NLRPR Therapeutic Recreation

North Little Rock Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce it has added a Therapeutic Recreation Program.  This program is used in ways which enhance health, functional abilities, independence and quality of life in individuals with disabilities.

All programs will provide opportunities to bring about change in individual behaviors and abilities while incorporating participant’s individual leisure interests.

Program goals include being able to provide standing programs where individuals with disabilities are given the opportunities to succeed within a safe environment. Have a range of interests, environment and where all participants are treated with respect at all times.

Our Therapeutic Recreation Program Leader, Malory Smysor, grew up in Iowa and was graduated from Western Illinois University with her Master’s Degree in Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration with a focus in Therapeutic Recreation. Since Malory graduated she has received her Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification.

Come out and meet Malory and learn more about our new Therapeutic Recreation Program at a Meet and Greet movie event at the Heritage Room by the golf course in Burns Park on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 6-8 p.m.  For more information about this program or event, please contact Malory at 501-791-8545 or [email protected].
