NLR Parks and RecreationVolunteer

Volunteers are beneficial to every organization. At the Parks and Recreation Department, volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of programs and activities. 

  • School Age Care Programs - These programs occur when school is out. Assistance are wanted as instructors for art, homework, and other classes/projects, monitors, etc.
  • Special Events - These one-time events take place throughout the year at various parks and community centers. Events will include the Burns Park Easter Egg Hunt, Fishing Derby, Fall Festivals at Funland and Community Centers, and more.
  • Athletics - These programs take place at our community centers. Coaches, Team Parents, Assistant Coaches, Cheerleading assistance, Dance assistance, and more.
  • Adopt-A-Park or Trail - This program allows individuals to adopt a park or trail (whole or section) to help us perform minor maintenance and keep clean and safe.
  • Administrative / Clerical - Often we need assistance with filing, data entry, copying, phone calls, and other administrative tasks at our community centers and administration office.
  • Other - There may be ways you want to use your time and talents not listed above. If so, please contact us to discuss.

All of our volunteers will be registered with the Mayor's Office of Volunteer Service.
