New Park Rangers Sworn In

Two newly hired North Little Rock Park Rangers were sworn in this morning by NLR Judge Randy Morley . Jeffrey Scott and Keith Waymire, newly hired NLR Parks Rangers, collectively bring 36 years of law enforcement and community service to the North Little Rock Parks & Recreation Department and the citizens of North Little Rock.

Both Scott and Waymire are a welcomed addition to the city, and specifically the parks staff. Both Park Rangers will focus their time in the following areas: 1) Educating the public on informative programs, tours, hikes, ordinances, rules, policies as well as recruiting and overseeing park volunteers; 2) Providing safety to the public by patrolling city parks, trails, special events, recreation center, and other assigned areas. Coordinating the security force and traffic plan for large events and will also work closely with the NLR Police Department on special projects; 3) Assisting the public by notifying appropriate departments when medical care or emergency attention is required and will also respond to spontaneous needs of the public; and lastly, 4) Reporting and documenting participation, park usage, citations, work orders and collections. Jason Rhodes, Superintendent of North Little Rock Parks shared, “We are excited to get the rangers out and have more of a presence in all of our North Little Rock parks: the neighborhood parks and also Riverfront park. Their presence will provide more security in our parks and rangers will also be available to answer questions and help direct visitors.”
